Singaporeans from all walks of life have suddenly become richer by at least 10 to 20 percent.

This after a background check conducted by the authorities discovered that the individual featured prominently on all current Singapore notes being printed and put into circulation is not Yusof Ishak, the first president of Singapore, but his friend.

This check comes hot on the heels of the boo-boo where Singapore’s first President Yusof Ishak’s name was misspelled twice as “Yusok Ishak” on the commemorative SG50 note packaging, an event that can only happen once every 50 years.

As expected, these stringent checks have caused alarm bells to go off across Singapore as Singaporeans panicked that such errors are costing them.

One Singaporean, Sng Zhua Jee, said: “This is a smart way to increase Singaporeans’ net worth overnight as notes issued by the bank that have errors always fetch more money than the value that is printed on the note.”

“We really should have discovered this error earlier as it would have made us all richer.”

At press time, the authorities said they are printing stickers with the correct photo of Yusof Ishak to paste on the notes to correct the wrong image
