Not good for SUTD to have the letters ‘STD’ inside

Not good for SUTD to have the letters ‘STD’ inside

Not good for ‘Singapore’ to have ‘Sin’ inside also.

Dear New Nation,

It was reported that the second batch of graduates from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) received marginally higher starting salaries compared to their peers, SUTD said.

This is according to a joint graduate employment survey conducted by SUTD, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS),Singapore Management University (SMU) and Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT).

However, all the money in the world is not enough to remove the eyesore that is “SUTD”, as it contains the letters “STD”, which stand for “Sexually Transmitted Diseases”.

What can Singapore do to correct this error?

Must we live with acceptance that STD can be published so prominently without a sense of shame or guilt?

Moreover, at this time of writing, why hasn’t Singapore changed its name yet as “Sin” is still present in the proper noun?

Singapore must be renamed as “Righteouspore” so then we can remove “STD” from “SUTD”.

SUTD can then be renamed “SUCCESS”, which is the short form for “Singapore University of Creative Classes Enterprising Surefire Success”.

Yours sincerely,
Seow Ting Dong
