This is exactly what the impoverished would like to have.

Singaporeans from all walks of life with various allergic reactions to opulence are applauding the latest vanity project to be built in Changi Airport in 2014.

This after it was announced that Project Jewel, a complex with state-of-the-art shopping and very shiny things, will cost $1.47 billion to construct.

This large sum of money must have come from somewhere, but it was not elaborated on in Project Jewel’s press release.

However, one Singaporean, Zhen You Fu, said this complex reflects the ruling government’s democratic socialist leanings very well: “Yes, I am sure the less well-off will benefit from this Project Jewel.”

“With so many shiny surfaces to clean, they can be employed here as janitors.”

“This is called the transference of wealth through a trickle-down effect. Because why pamper the poor by giving them money directly when they can actually earn it the hard way?”

However, Singaporeans worry structure might titillate pilots preparing for landing.

Have you gotten really tired of the cliched phrase “as flat as an airport runway?”

Well, in a bid to alleviate the boringness of it all, the Singapore government has sanctioned the building of a one-boob wonder of a building codenamed Project Jewel.

Now the flat runway comes with at least one boob.

This was revealed at the National Day Rally 2013 by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The one-boob wonder will provide Man with everything they ever wanted: Hours upon hours of fun and nourishment — as it will be a one-stop shopping and eating hub.

However, some Singaporeans interviewed said they were against the idea of a one-boob wonder of a building right smack in Changi Airport.

One SIA stewardess, Li Jing Mei, said: “I feel very vulnerable knowing that the Project Jewel building will be visible from the sky. Pilots coming into Singapore air space and this is the first thing they see.”

Others though, are more optimistic.

Designer Yi Ta Li, said: “I’m pretty sure they will come up with Project Jewel 2 pretty soon.”
