Most say still comfortable singing in large crowds but not alone.

A vast majority of Singaporeans from all walks of life who can ad-lib to go with the flow said they are still comfortable singing the national anthem in a large group in public instead of alone.

This after it was discovered most Singaporeans cannot pronounce and do not know the exact meaning of the words to Majulah Singapura.

One Singaporean, Chang Guo Ge, said: “If I had to sing it by myself without backing music and other people around to cover vocal duties for me, it would be impossible.”

“A lot of times, I just gloss over the words and make sounds up out of thin air.”

“It’s been like this ever since primary school days.”

Other Singaporeans said the prospect of singing the national anthem is more intimidating than reciting the national pledge.

Some 55 percent of Singaporeans still remember words to the National Pledge after one year of not reciting it.

However, the percentage fluctuates depending on how many new citizens Singapore has in any given year.

Claims acoustic fingerstyle Singapore national anthem is real and people bought it without using their brains.

The master of trolls has struck again.

SMRT Ltd (Feedback) — the no. 1 troll master on Facebook — has pulled a fast one on Singaporeans who cannot think for themselves.

On a Facebook post on July 21, 2013, they claimed to have found a rare recording of the Singapore national anthem being played fingerstyle on guitar by its composer.

And after the post went viral with more than 1.4k Likes, they came out to say that it is fake.

They simply ripped off a YouTube guitar video playing the Singapore national anthem fingerstyle. And added background sounds of the beach with children playing.

And the best part?

They fooled Temasek Review.

Red-faced organisers downloaded song wrongly from Internet.

Hipster troll: Trolling before trolling was cool.

The man who was trolling before trolling was cool, has struck again – unwittingly.

In Sacha Baron Cohen’s 2006 mockumentary Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan national anthem was spoofed to include the lines “Kazakhstan’s prostitutes cleanest in region” and calls other nations “run by little girls”.

The lyrics also has a call to action: “Come grasp the mighty penis of our leader.”

But that didn’t stop organisers from playing it by mistake at a ceremony for the central Asian nation’s shooting team in Kuwait.

Credit goes to the confused gold medallist winner from Kazakhstan, Maria Dmitrienko, who remained poised, listened to the anthem, before breaking out in a grin, footage shows.

Now Kazakhstan’s shooting team has demanded an apology from Kuwait and embarrassed organisers have since apologised for the oversight before restaging the medal ceremony.

This is the second time this month Kazakhstan’s sports stars have been hit by a gaffe.

Kazakhstan played Ricky Martin’s 1999 hit Livin’ La Vida Loca instead of the country’s official anthem called “My Kazakhstan” at a skiing event on their own soil weeks earlier.
