This is because the movie director does things for passion and not money.

Singaporeans from all walks of life who rely on public transportation are calling on SMRT to learn to be more like Anthony Chen, the director of the local award-robbing film, Ilo Ilo.

This after SMRT said they want to raise transport fares because they are not making enough money.

Singaporeans promptly asked SMRT to look towards director Anthony Chen, who is left with only $250 in his bank account, even after making what is perhaps the best Singaporean film of all time.

They want SMRT to learn how to operate without being profit-obsessed, and still do good work.

Hen Yong Gan, a local said: “SMRT should not always think about making money. They should learn to be more like Anthony Chen and do what they do because they are motivated by passion. Because even with so little money, look at the amazing work Anthony Chen churns out.”

“Imagine what happens if Anthony Chen makes movies out of profit instead of passion? Then it will be those kind of army movies released as a two-parter with slapstick comedy and cheesy story line.”

Film judges and juries cracking their heads wondering what to award Anthony Chen next.

Home-grown director Anthony Chen’s award-robbing Ilo Ilo film has swept the slate of cinematic awards clean.

This after his film about a maid trying to hold a Singaporean family together bagged three more awards last Saturday in Ukraine.

This was after winning awards in the United States. Which was after winning some awards in France.

The film has won awards for most touching scene, best narrative, best sound, best supporting actress, best supporting actor, best scene without dialogue, best make up and many others.

Singaporean movie-goers, who were initially elated that a Singaporean director is getting worshipped around the world for his genius, said they have gotten bored of hearing news that Chen’s critically acclaimed darling of a film has won some more accolades.

Ting Dao Xian, a local, said: “If this week he never win, I go buy 4D. Confirm strike.”

However, there are still some Singaporeans who are quite supportive of Ilo Ilo‘s winning streak.

Oh Bee Kut, a Singaporean who enjoys movies, said: “I think every time Anthony Chen wins an award, Jack Neo will suffer a bit of butthurt.”

Can’t catch the logic? We show you how.

Local superstar filmmaker Anthony Chen, who just won at the best film award at the Cannes Film Festival has been revealed by super intelligent and well informed online detectives to be a government stooge. But that was after he was revealed to have made the film without a single cent from the government. Which made alot of people angry.

Always trust Facebook statuses from people you don’t know. Especially one that gives you reason to believe that The Man is out to get you.

Always trust Facebook statuses from people you don’t know. Especially one that gives you reason to believe that The Man is out to get you.

Wait, you might ask. How can he be a stooge if he never receive gahmen funding?

Take a deep deep deeeeep breath:

LIAO! So means Cindy Toh anyhow say lah! But is this the end of the story? No….

As it turns out, all this was an elaborate scam to make Lawrence Wong admit that Ilo Ilo was actually a ploy to push the foreign worker agenda. “Cindy Toh” is fake, so are her assertions that Anthony Chen was scorned by the establishment who preferred more morally ok filmmakers (ex-affairs) like Jack Neo.

Confused? How does Ilo Ilo push the foreign talent agenda? How should you be angry about it? How can you blame the government in a manner that does not impinge on factual accuracy?

Let us explain.

Logic step #1:
Ilo Ilo features a Filippino maid working in a family experiencing the Asian Financial Crisis

Logic step #2:
Anything featuring Filippinos is an attempt at normalising the presence of foreigners

Logic step #3:
Any attempt at normalising the presence of foreigners is an attempt at insulting Singaporeans

Logic step #4:
Ilo Ilo was proven by online sleuths to be funded by the government.

Therefore:
Ilo Ilo is therefore an attempt by the PAP to insult Singaporeans.

Be angry. Killjoy.
