This shows that Singaporeans embrace creativity.

Singaporeans from all walks of life, who embrace creativity by coming up with imaginative names, have successfully renamed the new junior college Eunoia JC as 1 Sin Ming Avenue JC.

This after it was announced that the new junior college will be named “Eunoia”, meaning “beautiful thinking” and “goodwill towards others”, and that its campus will be located at the junction of Sin Ming Avenue and Marymount Road, which will be ready at the end of 2019.

Singaporeans said the renaming of Eunoia JC to 1 Sin Ming Avenue JC is to showcase the same type of creativity that was previously expressed by renaming Compass Point shopping mall as 1 Sengkang Mall, in a move that demonstrated a flair in thinking out of the box.

One Singaporean, Gai Ming Zi, said: “Singaporeans felt that Eunoia JC as a new name for a new junior college did not properly capture the spirit of innovation, adventure, wisdom and multidisciplinary thinking that will help Singapore excel in a globalised world.”

“Therefore, a group of Singaporeans have decided to rename Eunoia JC as 1 Sin Ming Avenue JC, following the rich culture established and precedent set by 1 Sengkang Mall.”

“This will better reflect the daring-do ethos espoused by civil servants, policy makers and political office holders.”

Other Singaporeans said the name change will mark a shift in thinking about 1 Sin Ming Avenue JC.

Chuan Tong, another local, said: “We Singaporeans took a long time to conceptualise and approve of this new name.”

“To name Eunoia JC as 1 Sin Ming Avenue JC will better help younger Singaporeans aspire to greater heights and achievements.”

At press time, there are plans to rename Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park as 1 Park Got Two Names Park.
