Singaporeans from all walks of life, who like to take public transport because cars are for rich people, are clapping their hands in glee as they look forward to $8 taxi rides from now on.

This after Khaw Boon Wan was named the new Transport Minister after a Cabinet reshuffle.

One Singaporean, Tah Ter Shi, said with Khaw around, taxi fares will cost as much as his heart operation, which was $8: “If Khaw Boon Wan’s bypass surgery bill came up to $8, I am sure I am looking at cab fares in the future that cost between $0.50 and $3 on average or less.”

Other Singaporeans said not only will public transport be kept at a cheap rate, trains in Singapore might never break down again as well.

One other Singaporean, Wang Ji Leow, said: “With Khaw Boon Wan around, we will not have any more train breakdowns.”

“This is so as he previously said he cannot remember the last time religion was used to make a profit.”

“So when he says he cannot remember the last time the train broke down, it means it officially didn’t happen.”
