New Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC MP to ensure smooth transition

Posted on 11 August 2017

No one will even notice Halimah Yacob is gone, she assures.

Singaporeans from all walks of life, who fear there is no more Indian woman to take care of Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC, can rest easy.

This after a smooth transition has been ensured as Halimah Yacob resigned from her political party position to become president of Singapore, vacating her role as MP.

Residents and Singaporeans at large have been assured the vacancy has been filled by a fresh face replacement, Laurent Binti Wong.

One Singaporean, Hua Zhuang, said: “I am comforted to know that there is a quick replacement for Halimah Yacob.”

“Even though this replacement has been touted as a fresh faced person, I can’t help but feel like I have seen her before.”

“But I guess it is just my overactive imagination and that she has a common face.”

However, other locals said that even if they feel good knowing that there is a replacement found on such short notice, they have never seen this fresh faced replacement with Lawrence Wong at the same venue at the same time before.

Another local, Pian Lang, said: “I will always either see Laurent Binti Wong or Lawrence Wong, but never side-by-side.”

“I did ask Laurent Binti Wong how Lawrence Wong is, and she told me she is doing okay.”

“But I guess they have sorted out their schedules to rotate and take turns to meet and greet residents.”

“Sometimes we would joke with her that she looks like Lawrence Wong but she will just brush us off and blush.”
