Jiak Kim St renamed Jiak Sai St after Zouk moved out

Posted on 12 April 2017

Anything that is over and done with in Singapore can jiak sai.

Singaporeans from all walks of life, who lost their purse, shoes, phone and/or virginity in Zouk but gained precious memories in return, have renamed Jiak Kim Street as Jiak Sai Street.

This after Zouk moved out of the premises to go to Clarke Quay at the end of 2016 and held its last parties there already.

One Singaporean, Tiao Bu, said: “Now without Zouk around, Jiak Kim is really Jiak Sai already.”

“Just like a lot of things in Singapore that get acquired or torn down, all jiak sai.”

Other locals said the renaming might in fact be a good thing.

Another local, Hai Hao, said: “From Jiak Kim to Jiak Sai is still okay.”

“As more and more places get removed in Singapore and renamed Jiak Sai as well, the more Jiak Sai places there are in Singapore, the more it will show how far Singapore has progressed.”
