He feels sad they might have to close down after Ngee Ann City wants to raise rental.

A Singaporean man has offered to let department store Takashimaya rent his 3-room HDB flat to operate out of for $1.50 per square foot rental price.

This after the landlord Ngee Ann City wants to raise the rent of Takashimaya from the existing rate of $8.78 per square foot to $19.83 per square foot a month.

The Singaporean man, Saren Fang Huo, said: “My three-room flat unit in Ang Mo Kio is quite centrally-located. It is 754 square feet, so it is going for $1,131 a month.”

“One bus stop from the MRT station, quite convenient for shoppers.”

“It is sad knowing that after 22 years, Takashimaya would have to close down because of the hefty rental price impose by Ngee Ann City.”

“My place can serve as a nice abode for them to continue selling their kitchen ware and cosmetics.”

“If Takashimaya is not keen, I will be extending my offer to Yaohan.”

At press time, Sogo is contemplating taking up the man’s offer.
