PAP finding fault with Workers’ Party for rewarding friends as politics should be about rewarding yourself

Posted on 30 August 2015

Rewarding others instead of yourself means having less for yourself.

Singaporeans from all walks of life, who are generous with their giving and view friends as an essential part of a fruitful life, have come out to recognise PAP’s effort at being upset as they continue to find fault with Workers’ Party.

This after the Ministry of National Development (MND) put out a press release on Saturday, which is a non-working day, saying it found that FM Solutions and Services (FMSS) — the former managing agent of Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council (AHPETC) — has been “grossly profiteering” off the town council.

One Singaporean, Jiak Lui, said he can understand the PAP’s feelings of unhappiness and where they are coming from: “I can see why the PAP is so upset with Workers’ Party for rewarding friends.”

“This is because it goes against the long-time tradition of politics where the norm is to only reward yourself.”

“What Workers’ Party is doing will set an unhealthy precedent of sharing the spoils of war.”

“If this carries on any further, rewarding others instead of yourself means having less for yourself in the future. This will only make entering and staying in politics highly unprofitable.”
