S’poreans react to news that Rolls-Royce to sell one-of-a-kind SG50 car

Three thoughts that must have went past your mind at some point.

SG50-Ghost-Series-II

Luxury car maker Rolls-Royce has manufactured a one-of-a-kind car called the SG50 Ghost Series II to celebrate Singapore’s 50th birthday.

The car will be white outside and red inside to represent the colours of the Singapore flag and the Merlion symbol will be stitched into its headrests.

The car is expected to cost anywhere from few hundred thousand to millions of dollars.

Here are three thoughts Singaporeans have:

sian-half-auntie “I guess I have to stick to SMRT and SBS Transit to get me around the island in style.”
Boh Lui Lang, 45-year-old seamstress

sian-half-uncle “SG50 is a good time to remind Singaporeans that poor people don’t deserve such nice things.”
Mei Yew Qian, 63-year-old cardboard collector and exercise fanatic

happy-bird-girl “If I had enough money to afford this car, the first thing I’d do is to emigrate out of Singapore.”
Chu Guo, 17-year-old poet
