S’pore issues advisory dissuading foreign entities from dying on our shores

Posted on 10 July 2015

As Singapore is land-scarce, please go elsewhere and die, thank you.

Singapore has issued an advisory Friday dissuading foreigners from coming to our shores from overseas just to die.

This after a non-native sperm whale died and beached itself comfortably on Jurong Island, much to the chagrin of the authorities, who now have a situation on their hands and lesser space to manoeuvre as Singapore is in dire need of more land.

One authority spokesperson, Mei You Wei, said Singapore is not an ideal destination for foreigners to come here to die as there is already a very dense population, with some members of that population sent to nursing homes in Johor Bahru to while away their remaining years: “It has come to our attention that a foreign entity has breached international boundaries and trespassed into our territory without proper authorisation.”

“Singapore has to reiterate our long-standing policy that we have a strict rule of not accepting others not from here on humanitarian grounds due to land scarcity issues.”

“The most we can do is to turn them away, so that they can readily find another destination to expire.”

At press time, it was reiterated that foreigners with money are still welcomed to Singapore.
