S’poreans react to Khoo Teck Puat shooting, injured police officer taken to Tan Tock Seng hospital for treatment

Three thoughts that must have went past your mind at some point.

A 24-year-old Singaporean man, who had been arrested by the police, tried to escape from Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) when getting medical attention there and snatched the revolver of the police officer who tried to stop him.

Three shots were fired and the police officer who was shot in the struggle was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for immediate hand microsurgery and is now in stable condition.

Here are three thoughts Singaporeans have:

sian-half-auntie “When I have an emergency, I would go to Tan Tock Seng Hospital because it appears to be a genuine hospital where people get treated.”
Kwa Noh Koon, 49-year-old telemarketer

sian-half-uncle “Maybe the arrested guy grabbed the policeman’s gun because he was frustrated as he felt the real doctors were at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.”
Boh Cheng Hu, 62-year-old hawker

happy-bird-girl “Thank goodness the injured police officer was attended to in time in a hospital that had an ambulance to ferry him to another hospital.”
Teo Cheng, 20-year-old school dropout
