No evidence of unhappiness found on Commonwealth road that formed sinkhole

Posted on 23 December 2013

Authorities said other factors like alcohol could have played a part in collapse.

A sinkhole suddenly came into being on a section of the road along Commonwealth Avenue West on Monday morning.

The sinkhole is about two metres in diameter.

First responders who rushed to the scene upon receiving the emergency call for help found that their route was blocked by the sinkhole.

They had to regroup and walk around it.

Authorities who then assessed the situation said there is no evidence of unhappiness found on the Commonwealth road that formed the sinkhole.

However, they suspect alcohol to be a factor that played a part in the collapse.

Song Hui Jia, a spokesperson said: “We will be carrying out a thorough investigation. If the road is found to be a cause for concern to public safety and orderliness, we will not hesitate to deport it.”
