SMRT adds more bus service 190 trips, commuters board after 12 instead of 13 tries

Posted on 20 October 2013

Waiting time cut from 100 minutes to 95 minutes.

Two weeks ago, commuters waiting along Scotts Road to board SMRT bus service 190 back to Choa Chu Kang could only board the bus after 13 tries.

This was shown to be true after a lady shot a video of her ordeal on the evening of Oct. 4, where she waited for one hour and 40 minutes before the 13th bus was available for boarding and posted it on YouTube.

The video forced the hand of bus operator SMRT a week later, who had no choice but to increase the bus frequency or else continue to be lynched online by angry Choa Chu Kang residents.

Deng Dao Xian, a Choa Chu Kang resident, said he is ecstatic the service has improved: “It’s great I only have to wait for 95 minutes instead of 100 minutes now. I even managed to get on when the 12th bus arrives. Used to be 13 tries.”

“If I’m lucky, I might even get on after 11 tries. Bless me.”

Bus operator SMRT said it was stoked to find that its measures have proven to be effective.
