Many reasons, that’s why.

Singaporeans from all walks of life and with varying maturity levels are back at it again.

This time, instead of standing in line for hours and calling the police over Hello Kitty, they are waiting for their turn at McDonald’s to get their hands on minion toys from the Despicable Me films.

Singaporeans interviewed said they are buying the minion toys because they feel a certain sense of affinity with the creatures.

Xiao Ren, a local said: “We are all minions anyway, that’s why.”

Another Singaporean, Jin Kah Teck, said: “In terms of stature, also quite alike.”

A psychologist New Nation spoke to said minions appeal to Singaporeans because they mirror each other.

The psychologist, Tao Nao Pai, said: “Yellow-skinned, myopic and short. Pretty much spot on target.”
