Waitresses at new gastrobar to take on Cecilia Sue’s likeness

Posted on 21 March 2013

Owners believe they will attract a predominantly civil servant clientele.

A new kinky concept gastrobar that has sprouted out at Clark Quay is making its waitresses take on Cecilia Sue’s trademark image.

Named Fella Tio, the gastrobar will target a specific clientele: Civil servants, in particular, scholars and high-fliers.

Ti Koh Pek, the owner of Fella Tio, denies that his business idea was spurred on by the recent ex-SCDF head Peter Lim sex scandal in court, where the star witness, Pang Chor Mui showed up for cross examination dressed as the previous sex scandal star witness, Cecilia Sue.

Ti said: “Civil servants generally like to be served by a woman in a power suit and shades because the hierarchical relationship status is highly alluring.”

The waitresses are expected to wear a suit and bug-eyed shades when serving, and they must be adept at using their mouths: To promote the sale of alcohol and food.

Ti said: “In this sales line, it is important to be able to use one’s mouth — to convince and procure more business. It is not just about getting served.”

He said the waitresses will have to undergo six weeks of oral training to learn how to convince customers to splurge more willingly, without feeling coerced.

Waitresses who possess basic linguistic skills are preferred, Ti said, while women who want to take on this job must have a strong daring-do attitude.

For those who might not make the cut, they will be given oral exams to ensure they are proficient enough in conveying the message accurately with only their mouths.

Without relying too much on their eyes which will be hidden most of the time.

“The waitresses need to display lip-smacking goodness. Because that’s how nice our food taste,” Ti said.

Fella Tio is said to be famous for their meat sticks and sticky rice balls.
