Bloggers beg Yaacob Ibrahim not to confer journalist status on them

Posted on 27 October 2012

For a good reason.

A group of bloggers are planning on petitioning Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Yakult Ibrahim.

This is after recent talk that the soon-to-be minister of the Ministry of Communications and Information, which will be constituted on Thursday, wants to give formal journalist status to electronic scribes and ranters to make them “credible”.

All bloggers have expressed dismay at this idea.

One blogger, whose name starts with “B” and ends with “T”, said: “Look at us! We are so bad at spel checkng and fact checking we cannot even get his name right!”

“Please don’t bring us down any lower in status by making us on par with Straits Times reporters!”
