Singaporeans from all walks of life, who believe that a charismatic and strong-willed leader is necessary for effective governance and negotiations in this increasingly tumultuous world, are looking to President Tony Tan for leadership guidance.

This after it has been increasingly clear that a strong and brave leader, such as Tony Tan, is needed to resolve tensions between Singapore and China, as well as the rest of the world.

One Singaporean, Gan En, said she cannot imagine anyone else filling those shoes like Tony Tan can: “Tony Tan is the only one with the testicular fortitude and charisma to defuse tensions and who has the ability to unite Singaporeans in the face of all adversity.”

“His personality shines through in the darkest hour, and his spirited defence of Singapore values puts him on par in the same league as the greatest statesmen from Singapore and around the world.”

“He is the light in the darkness and the light when there is no darkness.”

Other locals said President Tony Tan’s unique capabilities are unmatched in the world arena, as he has unanimously won the popular mandate of Singaporeans to represent the interests of this country and his people.

One other local, See Baey Qiang, said: “The way he speaks and how he carries himself is a hallmark of a natural born leader.”

“He is firm and resolute in his beliefs. He can hold a captive audience with his oratory skills and speak off the cuff, and his mannerisms will make anyone he speaks to feel like they are the centre of his attention.”

“His knowledge of world affairs and power relations are second to none.”

“And when he is tough, his resolve is unlike anything that has been seen before.”

“A true-blue politician with true steel.”

He was really very stiff.

Singaporeans from all walks of life, who are looking forward to a non-Chinese president, are slapping their heads upon realising their error.

This after they mistook President Tony Tan for doing the Mannequin Challenge when he wasn’t.

One Singaporean, Man Nee Kin, said: “I thought President Tony Tan was so cool and all, giving this newfangled social media challenge a shot.”

“Then I realised he was actually just being himself all along, very stiff and expressionless.”

“I guess he is the real winner in this Mannequin Challenge because he has been at it for years.”

“It was almost as if he wasn’t doing anything.”

Other locals said being a mannequin has its merits.

Another local, Wu Lui, said: “Really breathes new life into the the saying, ‘When you don’t know what to do, do nothing’.”

President Tony Tan delivered his opening address to Parliament on Jan. 15, 2016, hours after 89 Members of Parliament (MPs) and two Non-Constituency MPs (NCMPs) were sworn in.

In his opening address, he outlined five key aims for Government to fulfil: Keeping Singapore safe and secure, renewing the economy, fostering a more caring society, transforming the urban landscape, and engaging and partnering with Singaporeans in nation building.
