Singaporeans from all walks of life, who know insubordination and foreign interference when they see it, have looked towards McDonald’s and are shaking their heads in exasperation.

This after McDonald’s relaunched the Nasi Lemak Burger on Aug. 31, 2017, after Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong specifically declared his war on diabetes in a bid to get Singaporeans not to die so early so they can continue to produce for the economy.

One Singaporean, Mai Dang Lao, said: “McDonald’s is testing the sovereignty and will of this Lee regime.”

“This is American foreign influence at its worst.”

“If this is not a dabbling in local politics, we don’t know what is.”

Other locals said PM Lee’s warning have fallen on deaf ears and more must be done to regulate fast food like how media in Singapore is regulated.

Another local, Jiak Min Kia, said: “This form of foreign influence is the worst.”

“The imperialistic nature of McDonald’s is couched in local flavours and sold to unwitting Singaporeans like it is a good thing meant to be embrace.”

“Worse, Singaporeans lap it up without thinking and allow themselves to be agents of other states.”

“And then die of diabetes, which is the very ailment the prime minister warned against, because who can produce economically for Singapore if it isn’t Singaporeans who are alive?”
