The LKY Musical had its script corrected and the famous 1965 television broadcast in which founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew broke down when announcing the separation from Malaysia added at the last minute at the suggestion of the Ministry of Communications and Information.

These details were made known after one of the actors, Tan Shou Chen, who played the character of former deputy Prime Minister Toh Chin Chye in the musical, wrote about it in a post on his blog, which has since been taken down without explanation.

Here are three thoughts Singaporeans have:

sian-half-auntie “It would have been news to me if the government didn’t provide any inputs.”
Zho Hee, 42-year-old TV producer

sian-half-uncle “The artistes should be grateful they have been given employment by the government in the first place.”
Jin Gan En, 63-year-old plate clearer

happy-bird-girl “It’s shameful that after years of propaganda, the musical producers cannot get it right and still need the government to step in to tell them what to write.”
Kum Gong, 18-year-old pet shop owner
