Singaporeans from all walks of life, who have their priorities right, are rallying around footballing legend and Son of Singapore, Fandi Ahmad.

This after Fandi has been touted as highly qualified to be Singapore’s next president and have put him up for election due September 2017.

One Singaporean, Tak Kiu, said: “Fandi Ahmad has contributed more to Singapore society than a lot of potential candidates.”

“If there is one man who can rally Singaporeans, it will be Fandi Ahmad.”

“No doubt about that.”

“He can singlehandedly put 60,000 asses in seats at the Sports Hub.”

Other locals said Fandi’s talents surpass a lot of other people as he has technical skills compared to just talk.

Another local, Tian Cai, said: “What Singapore needs these days is someone who can lead by example, by showing that one can be self-made to lend confidence to the future.”

“What we don’t need is a candidate to fulfil narrow-minded party political goals and who is lacklustre.”

“And we don’t need leaders who are only all talk.”

They don’t really care even if the team finishes last in Malaysian Super League.

Singaporeans from all walks of life with varying levels of athletic ability are rejoicing.

This after Fandi Ahmad has been named the new coach of the LionsXII.

A local sports fan, Kwa Tak Kiew, said appointing Fandi as coach is as right as putting “Scarlett Johansson” and “naked” together in the same sentence: “To know that Fandi is the coach is all that Singaporeans need to know. He can not win anything, or even finish last in the league, it will also be fine.”

Another football fan, Zhen Tian Zhen, said LionsXII winning any games in the Malaysian Super League next season is an additional blessing: “The point is that Singaporeans just want Fandi to be coach and they are happy to see him there forever. If Fandi cannot deliver, then so be it.”

“This is much better than putting a foreigner at the helm and wining trophies because Singaporeans wouldn’t even feel good about any victories acquired in this manner.”

“It is better to do worse with a local than do well with foreigners.”

Footballing legend’s two sons head off to Spain for greener pitches.

Singapore footballing legend Fandi Ahmad’s two sons Ikhsan, 13, (left) and Irfan, 15, left Singapore on Monday for a three-month stint with Spanish club Hercules.

If it works out, they will be making arrangements to stay in Spain for a longer term by this September.

According to their mother, Wendy Jacobs, 39, the boys did not receive any financial aid from the Football Association of Singapore.

It is not known how much has been spent on the boys to go overseas to play.

But a source familiar with the cost of overseas education said that the boys’ school fees alone will cost $75,000 a year.

They have been chasing their dream of turning professional since 2008.

They have been to trials with Arsenal, Chelsea, Reading and AC Milan among other European clubs, but they didn’t work out due to work permit problems or education fees.

Regardless, they still look Cooler Than You.

(Notice how they won’t settle to play for the S-League? Says a lot about the Yeo’s league, doesn’t it?)
