Reader forgives government for maligning City Harvest Church

Posted on 27 June 2012

Dear Editors,

I am deeply saddened by the reactions of netizens to the arrest of my dearest pastor Kong Hee. As a long time member of City Harvest Church, the public clearly does not understand the sacrifices he had to make in the name of God.

When I first received Sun Ho’s Chinese pop CD in 2003, I thought to myself: “what kind of devil’s music is this?” But as I listened more, it began to dawn on me that I was being overly prudish and she was actually spreading the word of God in the form of Satan-worshipping music to beat the devil at his own game.

Indeed, the more involved I became at the Church, the more I began to understand that I could not even begin to comprehend God’s plan and the plans pastor Kong had for me, and the church. You see, I am but mortal. Pastor Kong was the chosen one.

Without his light shining like a beacon of conscience, the gays, prostitutes, and the opposition would start to take over Singapore. Satan would then have a hub to take over the world.

So it was with deep love that I decided to dedicate 30% of my husband’s salary each month to help fund Sun Ho’s music career as part of the Crossover project.

As a good christian, I have an obligation to The Lord to spread his message: from Singapore to Malaysia, to Taiwan, China and even the town of sin, Hollywood.

It must have been extremely difficult for pastor Kong to see his wife in such disgusting states of undress in public, and for her to live in the heart of the most unholy places on earth, Beverly Hills. I’ve watched the TV series 90210 when I was younger. These people have no morals but like lepers, the Man and Woman of God must go to the sick to heal the sick.

People outside the church don’t understand us and are so quick to condemn when they haven’t experienced God through His music, sung to thumping beats and a negro man saying something intelligible at the beginning.

I do not understand how “China wine” or being a Geisha is related to God’s work, but as I said, I’m only mortal. God has a plan, even when I don’t understand. Even when it involves S$23 million. If pastor Kong was using that money, it must be God’s will.

Jesus preaches forgiveness, and therefore we must forgive even if we don’t want to.

So I forgive the government, and the public for misunderstanding and maligning the Church.

There’s a special place in hell for people who say nasty things about Kong Hee and an even worse one for those that framed God’s chosen workers.

I pray that it will be like Sodom and Gonorrhea.

Yours truly,
Conservative Nazi

We all have our rights. You can choose to support Kong Hee by all means. Even you you choose to give him 90% of your husband salary, it is your choice. My advice to all, use your brain and don’t follow blindly.

“Pastor Kong was the chosen one.”
    and
“Without his light shining like a beacon of conscience, the gays, prostitutes, and the opposition would start to take over Singapore. Satan would then have a hub to take over the world.”and
“Even when it involves S$23 million. If pastor Kong was using that money, it must be God’s will.”

I’m guessing the writer loves, admires and believes that Kong Hee is someone that brings peace to her, and to the people around her. But I have a question for you: If he was the chosen one, how did he let money to overthrow his position?

Next, I am disgusted with her “ideal nation”. How could she stereotype others who are different, “gays, prostitutes and the opposition”, with Satan? Even, how could she just condemn those who are different as though they did anything wrong and shouldn’t exist? Like she’d said, “I am but mortal”, so who is she to judge so quickly? The opposition? Did she meant all non-Christians? If she was, I believe she needs to stop and reflect on herself. If she wasn’t, then who else would be related to Satan and would take over the island, I wonder.

Lastly, apparently she’d either lost her mind or she was too blind sided by the fact that Singapore is a nation governed by law. Even with good intentions, members of a Charity must first go through proper procedures to obtain approval before any funds and donations can be used for any event/operation. If each and every Charity organization starts acting on their own, wouldn’t then real chaos ascend?

Disclaimer: I am not pointing fingers at anyone, other than the writer (and if Kong Hee is found guilty, only if). Sorry if anyone feels upset after reading this comment.

Hey, this is not a real news website. So, don’t make a fool out of yourself here. Cheers 😉

I appreciate the sarcasm and its sardonic castigation of those involved, but concur that the Nazi reference was unnecessary. Something like ‘a faithful believer’ would have sufficed. You are well-versed in Christian tenets but it appears to me that some of the satirical remarks levelled at the pastor and wife have inevitably, perhaps inadvertently, spilled into attacks on the Christian God; that I find regrettable as well.

But, use the God name to manipulate the people and charity to greedy is Evil.

A question pertinent to this article: Is it a relevant satire, or is it a gross misrepresentation of an average CHC member?

    • Lady G

the spelling of gomorrah and disguising her gospel news via satanic beats shd hint at some mischief.

No wonder the writer is so taking side.
This is like spending $20/kg to buy durian, one will definitely say the durian is good

LOL – guys guys, stop trying to correct those who don’t get the meaning behind this story, sit back and have a good laugh. hahahahaha

This article has been reposted on other sites and CHC haters are having a field day with it.
It’s amazing the lack of discernment in many. I blame it on the removal of literature in the school syllabus. They cannot even differentiate truths from lies. Sigh.

    Dear conservative nazi,

Firstly, as a fervent atheist (and ex-christian), I want to say that there is no such thing as God, period. Don’t accuse me of making assumptions, after all the burden of proof is on your side. The argument here is not whether God exists but you will see later why I bring this point up.

Without further digressing, I would add that even if God existed, I would like to cast doubt on how “she was actually spreading the word of God in the form of Satan-worshipping music to beat the devil at his own game.” It is totally ludicrous to do that to spread the word of God, no bible verse asked her to spread God’s word in that way. If anything, Satan-worshipping would be considered blasphemy in your terms, and repugnant to us atheists. Please turn with me to Leviticus 26:1, “Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the LORD your God.”, and now to Exodus 20:3, “You shall have no other Gods before me.” I am not biased in my claim because I am an atheist. Rather, just like some of my christian friends, I would have been equally (if not more) disgusted by this outrageous incident, had I still remained a christian. Moreover, it is inconsistent to say that Satan-worshipping will beat the devil at his own game. After all, you are giving Satan what he wants, worshipping him, how does that beat him in getting people not to worship him? Truth does not tolerate self-contradiction.

Just because you are a christian does not make you higher than the government or the public. Don’t think too highly of yourself by thinking that you are in a position to judge whether or not we are to be forgiven. I am not very supportive of Singapore’s government myself but I guess for this case I would side them. I do not need your forgiveness, or rather, I do not admit to “misunderstanding and maligning the Church.” Admittedly, the results are not out yet, and there is no conviction to prove that what is alleged really holds true. But to accuse us of “misunderstanding and maligning the Church” is to assume that the allegations are completely false in the first place. To be more objective, both sides should leave it to the government to do the investigation rather than sticking to the mantra “Kong Hee is innocent. Kong Hee is innocent. Kong Hee is innocent. Because I said so!” I can understand how it feels when there is a possibility raised, that someone you respect and idolise so much might have done something so gravely wrong, but to shut the possibility completely without even empirical proof is wishful thinking in itself.

Also, nothing is completely sacrosanct and immune to criticism (not even the bible). True the results are not out yet, but it’s only natural for people to speculate. Please do not judge that we will go to hell simply by speculating. For supporting satan-worshipping and for judging others, you should be thankful that the hell you preached was only a falsification, and that you will not be sent there to rot. Of course, IF the convictions happen to be true (HYPOTHETICALLY for now), he should be subject to a no-punches-pulled criticism. As an ex-christian, I don’t remember being taught to be greedy. If my fellow christians have willingly given their earnings to be used for the good of mankind, I would spend it wisely, to those who really are in need, those in a state of starvation and destitute. Quoting the bible again, Matthew 19:24, “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle
than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

all your arguments don’t make sense. i just find it all quite funny, it happened and the money is gone. it’s Blasphemy to say God’s will. God would never ask pple to misuse funds for own usage. In fact it’s justice that someone inside there had the sense to report!

Hi nazi, after seeing the video of china wine,I must say that truely there is such thing as blinded by the bright lights and her seducing and satanic dance but what a waste of money.better to feed the poor.

  • Henry

the excuse often cited: she was actually spreading the word of God in the form of Satan-worshipping music to beat the devil at his own game.

such excuse of satisfying own temptation seems great & ingenious BUT remember what the Lord said “Luke 11:18 NIV · New International Version. If Satan is divided against himself, how can his kingdom stand?”

  • Issaclin1975

There’s something wrong with Singaporean these days, they just can’t differentiate between what’s right or wrong . Sad thing sad thing . Even the culprit. Is found guilty, can you imagine what is he going to tell the crowd, guess what is? he going to tell the congregation that he has finally found GOD. What an excuse
